raven with apple

When I was walking down Main Street toward Robinson Avenue in downtown Oklahoma City this afternoon, I saw a little park across the street. When we walked over, I saw this statue. Two wooden benches were nearby with shade trees behind them. I can imagine taking a break from working in one of the buildings and sitting on one of the benches and reading a book for a few minutes, can't you?

holiday greetings fence

This fence can be seen from 63rd street going toward Midwest Blvd. in Oklahoma City. I used to drive past this house going to and from work each day, but now only see it once in a while. Before each holiday, the owners change the design in their fence to another holiday greeting. The designs are made with plastic cups.

I always look forward to seeing the next design and they always bring a smile to my day.

Mosaic mural at ballpark

This is one of the three mosaic murals that can be seen by the home plate entrance of Bricktown Ballpark, at the corner of Mickey Mantle Drive and Reno Blvd. in Oklahoma City. I've looked for information about the artist online, but haven't found anything yet. Information about the artist is probably posted near the murals, but I was across the street when I took the photo and didn't see it.

The Half Blood Prince

Tonight, I took the kids to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It was really a great movie, probably my favorite so far. The kids loved it too.

airplanes

On the north side of Tinker Air Force Base, along I-40, civilians can look at retired airplanes. This one is my favorite. I like the little flag on the tail. :)

It's so hot outside

Today as I drove home from work, the car showed that the outside temperature was 107 degrees Fahrenheit. When I parked in the shade when I got home, the temperature magically dropped to 104 degrees. Still smoldering hot.

Since it was so hot, I didn't want to heat up the kitchen by using the stove or oven, so I stopped by one of our favorite places for dinner.

The steak sandwiches from this place are phenomenal. Definitely not diet-friendly, but completely delicious.

Del Rancho has been around since 1959 and can be found in twelve locations: eleven in Oklahoma (nine of those are in the Oklahoma City metro area) and one in Texas.

Pops

This photo was taken in front of Pops in Arcadia, Oklahoma. This big soda bottle is lit up at night and is a lovely sight to see.

Arcadia is a few minutes northeast of Oklahoma City. Pops is located on Route 66, also known as historic U.S. Highway 66 which goes from Chicago to Los Angeles.

view in the mirror

The Department of Public Safety in my side mirror, as we were leaving the parking lot after completing the paperwork to get oldest daughter's driver's permit yesterday.
